Merely Players is a passion project- a tribe of actors who are producing our own work so that we have the time and freedom to take our "play" seriously, working deeply with trust, honesty, and joy.
Founder Jen Alison Lewis spent January 2015 in training at Shakespeare and Company, an experience of intense collaboration and truthfulness. As You Like It is her effort to continue that complexity and clarity of work. Focused on channeling universal truths through an open body and voice, our rehearsal process will incorporate some techniques of Shakespeare & Company to challenge the actors within our supportive ensemble.
Merely Players branched off from it's a Fiasco, which is in its fourth year performing in the same parks. We appreciate their collaboration and share some cast members with their June production of Macbeth.
Some of us (*) are members of Actors' Equity Association, the stage union, which allows us to produce under the Members' Project Code.
